About Tulsa
Tulsa is a friendly, beautiful and proud city -- you will feel welcome wherever
you go. It won’t take long before you call Tulsa “home.”
It’s easy to find affordable housing and friendly neighborhoods in Tulsa and
its surrounding communities such as Broken Arrow, Jenks, Owasso and Sand
Springs. Tulsa ranks fourth in the nation for affordable homes, and retail
shopping is near every neighborhood.
Resting beside the Arkansas River in northeast Oklahoma, Tulsa is known as
“Green Country” for its green, rolling hills. There are four distinct seasons,
and the average temperature low is 50 degrees and the high is 70 degrees.
For a number of years, Tulsa’s driving economic force was oil, earning Tulsa
the nickname “Oil Capitol of the World.” While oil still plays a major role in
Tulsa’s economy, business and industry have greatly diversified. Healthcare,
aerospace, telecommunications and manufacturing are some of the fastest growing
industries in the city today.
Fascinating festivals, an exciting entertainment theme park and the Tulsa Zoo
will keep you entertained throughout the entire year. Tulsa boasts many
college, amateur and professional sports teams and events that keep the whole
city cheering. You can’t miss the exceptional array of fine art, music and
cultural attractions Tulsa has to offer its residents. Tulsa’s Performing Arts
Center offers a variety of quality theatrical and musical performances
including productions by the Tulsa Opera, Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra and
Tulsa Ballet Theatre.
You can even pursue an advanced degree from one of the four colleges and
universities in Tulsa. The city also has two medical colleges – Oklahoma State
University College of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of Oklahoma
College of Medicine – Tulsa.
