About Clinical Research Trials
Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital is one of many medical institutions involved in clinical research. In a recent conference held by government officials entitled “A National Call to Action,” clinical research was described as a part of medical and health research intended to produce valuable knowledge for understanding human disease, prevention and treatment of illness, and promotion of health.
Why is Clinical Research Necessary?
Clinical research trials are necessary to evaluate both the safety and effectiveness of new and/or existing therapies.
The potential for turning information gained from clinical research into powerful tools for preventing and treating disease is the greatest it has ever been. The pharmaceutical industry is in a rapid growth phase of research and development as a result of the growing biotechnology industry and the recent mapping of the human genome.
Individual Patient Benefits
You may or may not receive a direct benefit from taking part in a research study. You may receive information about your health from any physical examinations and laboratory tests done in a study. We hope the information learned from the study will help future patients.
If you have any questions or would like additional information, please feel free to call Laureate Research at (918) 491-3770.
