Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder Services

Laureate’s comprehensive facilities allow for a truly individualized treatment and an active approach to treatment for patients and families. From initial assessment through education programs for parents, our goal is to help the patient and their family learn to manage ADHD.

Initial Assessments
Laureate has an array of services for those suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). To determine if your child has ADHD, an initial assessment/screening will be conducted by Laureate professionals. The initial assessment/screening includes developmental and academic history, behavior-rating scales based on input from parents and teachers, as well as a child and parent interview.

Psychological Testing
If additional testing is required, a psychological evaluation can be performed. The type of evaluation depends upon the diagnostic questions. For example, determining if the problem is ADHD and another disorder such as anxiety.

Individual and Family Therapy
Individual and family therapy is available to those patients who would benefit from this type of treatment. With ADHD, there are some interventions in therapy that can help patients learn more effective coping skills. Teaching self-control, self-regulation and coping helps those with ADHD better manage their decision making and behavior. Since ADHD is a disorder that is manageable but not curable, it is important for parents to modify their parenting skills to help their children live with this disorder.

Medication Evaluation and Management
If it is necessary for your child to take medication for ADHD, Laureate medical staff can prescribe medication that could help control some of the symptoms of ADHD. A member of our team will monitor and manage the medication and dosage your child is taking.

Parent Education Programs
It is important to obtain as much information about ADHD as possible. To this end, Laureate offers parent education programs to help parents learn more about ADHD and ways to help their child.

Laureate offers a 24-hour information and referral line to answer all your questions. When you need some expert advice regarding your ADHD child, call the professionals at Laureate. Please give us a call at (918) 491-5600 for emergencies, and (918) 491-3700 for outpatient appointments.

Due to variations in health plan coverage, please check with your insurance provider to determine what mental/behavioral health services are covered by your plan.
